For most tools, you need your date of birth, time of birth, and place of birth. The daily horoscope only requires your moon sign. If you don't know your exact birth time, use 12:00 noon as an approximation.
Vedic astrology uses the sidereal zodiac (fixed against actual star positions) and the Lahiri ayanamsa correction, while Western astrology uses the tropical zodiac (season-based). This shift of roughly 23–24 degrees means your Vedic signs are often different from your Western ones.
