Rudraksha beads are among the gentlest and most accessible Vedic remedies. Each bead carries a number of faces, or mukhi, and each mukhi resonates with a planet and a deity — 1 Mukhi with the Sun and Shiva, 2 Mukhi with the Moon, 5 Mukhi with Jupiter, 7 Mukhi with Saturn and Mahalakshmi, and so on. Wearing the right bead is said to steady and strengthen the planet it represents.
As with gemstones, the choice depends on your ascendant (lagna), not your Sun or Moon sign. Your life bead is the mukhi of your ascendant lord, and the beneficial beads are those of the planets that are functional benefics for your specific rising sign. Rudraksha are far gentler than gemstones — generally safe to wear — which makes them a popular first remedy.
